Letter of Academic Adaptation: This is a letter prepared by the Barrier-Free Student Unit for students who need to adapt in the academic field (courses, exams, assignments).
Any student who can document the disability status may apply to the Unattended Student Unit for the first two weeks of each academic semester to receive an Academic Adaptation Letter.
Non-Accessible Student Unit staff examines the student's disability document. If the student is determined to be eligible for the mentioned service, an academic interview is held with the student. This interview is conducted through the following questions:
Who will be responsible for the provision of adaptations As a result of the interview with the student, the Unit for the Unattended Student prepares a letter covering the accepted adaptations and sends them to the relevant academic staff and department heads.
Note Holder: Students who have difficulty in taking notes in the lectures due to their disability or who cannot keep a note are provided with note-taking services as a student assistant. As students can find their own note holders (eg: An acquaintance who has taken the same course or who has taken it before), the Aksaray University Disabled Student Unit can make an announcement to find a student assistant who will be assigned as a note holder. The duties of the student assistant are as follows:
Course Partnership: Students who have difficulty in studying due to their disability are provided with course partnerships through student assistantships. As students can find their own course partners, Aksaray University Disabled Students Unit can also make announcements to find a suitable student assistant. Students can work with more than one course partner during the semester. The time, place and intensity of the study are decided by the student and student assistant together. The responsibilities of the course partner are as follows:
Counseling Service for Departments with Disabled Students: Aksaray Disabled Students Unit provides counseling services to the departments with disabilities as necessary; informs the instructors about the course and exam adaptations and their reasons.
